Interventional radiology
From UMCN Radiology Research
Research within the heart-vascular and main neuro programs 3.
Within these themes there is a growing need for imaging expertise. Here lies the potential of minimally invasive technology, under the leadership of Prof. Leo Schultze Kool (professor of interventional radiology). Projects focusing on percutaneous perfusion techniques (among others isolated liver perfusion, isolated lower limb perfusion, and isolated mild hyperthermia of the brain), new treatment and product development for venous disease (among others, venous thrombectomy, vena cava filters, and venous valves) (Dr. Yvonne Hoogeveen), the application of new imaging technology in conjunction with the evaluation and development of new aortic endoprotheses, and imaging in venous malformations (Dr. Klaasjan Renema) are in progress.
