Bart van de Bank was born on November 19th, 1982, and raised in Oss. After graduating from senior general secondary education in 2001 he started working as a theater technician in the local theater. In 2004 he started studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the Avans University of Applied Sciences in ‘s Hertogenbosch. During a traineeship in the third year, Bart entered the fascinating world of Magnetic Resonance (MR), in which he even managed to perform his graduation project and receive a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Cum Laude).
Bart got even more enthusiastic and applied for a part-time job at the Department of Radiology at the University Medical Center Utrecht under the supervision of Dr. Ing. D.W.J. Klomp and Professor P.R. Luijten , where a high field MR system was installed in 2008. For this system he constructed interfaces and dedicated coils for different research topics. Besides the part-time job he started following courses at Utrecht University to obtain his M.Sc. degree. He managed to accomplish this within 3 years. During this period he already gained experience at international conferences. In August 2011 he started his PhD project at the Radboud University Nijmegen Medical Center, where he will work on brain spectroscopy at 7 Tesla in collaboration with the Erwin L. Hahn Institute, Essen, Germany.
